Sweeney Todd

Sweeney Todd was a movie about revenge, Sweeney Todd formerly known as Benjamin Barker, came back to London to get his revenge on Judge Turpin for taking his family from him. When he arrives Ms. Lovett makes Todd think his wife Lucy is dead so that fuels his fire even more.  Throughout the movie Todd is killing people in his barbershop above Ms. Lovetts store then sending the body down to the basement for Ms.Lovett to bake them in her pies which is just so gross. She serves them to customers and they absolutely  love them. Its hard for me to think about eating another person in my pie so that part of the movie was disturbing to me. I didn't mind all the killing cause Ive seen movies much worse and the blood kinda looked fake to me. Todd uses his razors which he calls his "friends" and at one point in the movie said "At last! My arm is complete again! ". During the movie they sang which was entertaining to me, I liked the singing it made the movie.  The tunes and lyrics were funny and it made sense with the scene that was taking place. Overall I really enjoyed the movie and thought it was really good except for the ending. I didn't want Todd to die especially killed with his own "friends" his razors, I thought him and Ms. Lovett should have lived happily ever after with Toby.

A Midsummer Night's Dream

I was picked first to suggest a play to read and I wasn't prepared at all I just looked down on the first page and picked A Midsummer Night Dream.  I realize now that was a mistake I wish I never would have suggested or voted for this play. I didn't enjoy much about this play at all it was so confusing and hard to read. Once I started reading it I just wanted to shut  my book and never look at it again. I had to purchase the translation book or I knew I would be doomed.  After I got it all translated it started to make sense and wasn't as bad since I knew what was going on. It had a happy ending and everyone was with the right person even after Hermia's father threatened to kill her if she didn't marry Demetrius.  With all the drama in the middle with Lysander and Demetrius falling in love with Helena I was worried everyone was gonna end up with the wrong person. I'm glad it got resolved and so happy I wont be reading that again. The movie was more interesting than the play so that wasn't so bad but they still talked funny and it was hard to understand.

Arsenic and Old Lace

Finding out we were going to be watching a black and white movie on the first day was not how i wanted to start off my day back. I wasn't really looking forward to watching this movie but it turned out to be pretty good.  The beginning was kinda boring to me so I didn't pay much attention and when it got started I got interested.  Finding out that the aunts Abby and Martha were murderers was a shock to me.  I never would have expected them to kill anyone but they did it with good intentions.  They were smart about it and had compassion for them so it didn't seem like a bad thing.  I thought Jonathan was a very strange character and Dr. Einstein was creepy too.  All the irony in this movie made it so hard to predict I never knew what was going to happen next.  Overall I liked the movie and it makes me want to watch more black and white movies.  I actually wouldn't mind watching another one in class sometime.
